I'm already on Mavericks, so all file operations were performed on it. While I appreciate people uploading, the illogical packaging and awkwardness made me feel like there was something malevolent with this download. I ran several scans and did not come up with rootkits. I quickly shut down, booted from a backup, and had to delete the files (all of them, who knows what's in that mess) with rm -rf to clear them out. And I could not get rid of the external file, Traah would not empty, and rm -rf did not work either.Įven after a restart the error said the file was active. UPDATE: After getting the Installer file out of the pointless packaging, I started to have slow Finder and erratic trackpad issues.

And stumped as to why the zip file will not open for me. I am stumped as to why this is the only version they will not let you download. I'm very very sad because I need to make a bootable drive and Apple does not offer THIS InstallMacOSX! I can DL the versions above and below - but NOT MAVERICKS.

I tried opening THAT zip file (hoping for different results) but the same thing happened. It downloaded differently (as described in other reviews) so I looked at the package contents and found the same zip file that I got from the zip link.

After all that I decided to try the Torrent link. Please check that you have transferred or created the zipfile in the appropriate BINARY mode and that you have compiled UnZip properly).

I tried to install Oracle Java only by removing Apple Java, but I got installation error, so I guess Apple Java is needed to install Oracle Java.I tried Archive Utility (Error 1 - Operation not permitted), Stuffit and The Unarchiver (both crashed) and the Terminal (which said there were xtra bytes at the beginning or within zipfile, attempting to process anyway - then - start of central directory not found zipfile corrupt. Copied files from Installation C (not symbolic link).Created a /System/Library/Frameworks/amework/Versions/A.I have Installation B, and now Installation C is linked to Installation A.įor using eclipse, I had to make Compiler Compliance level to 1.6 to use it (from the help Unsupported major.minor version 51.0). Is there any way to use just one JDK 1.7 for Mavericks by removing two of them safely?Īfter some setup and test, I have only one Java (1.6) installed.Lrwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 74 Jan 15 09:12 -> /System/Library/Frameworks/amework/Versions/Current/Commands/java When I invoked java from command line, it points to Installation A. I found that I can easily remove Installation C, however I'm not sure if this is OK. Installation C /Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/jdk1.7.0_51.jdk/Contents/Home/bin/java Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 20.65-b04-462, mixed mode) Installation B /System/Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/1.6.0.jdk/Contents/Home/bin/java Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 24.51-b03, mixed mode) Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.7.0_51-b13) Installation A /System/Library/Frameworks/amework/Versions/Current/Commands/java Now I have three java binaries installed in my computer. I downloaded JDK for Mac OS X 10.9.1 from Oracle, but I had to install another Java from Apple site once more, as I couldn't launch eclipse with it.
